When Void, Mass and Darkness collided
Naissance of Chaos was rendered,
Emitting a potent energy that wrecked and yielded might
From that pandemonium, she was engendered.
From her forehead sprang colossal heavens
With sparkling stars that winked at the world below
Her wavy locks begot proud peaks and vivacious valleys,
Slender arms gave way to meek meadows.
Rivers and streams flowed through her veins
And brooks effervesced when she flashed a smile
Then she did something even Chaos could not imagine cueing
She conceived and nourished the first forms of life.
Her dainty fingers and toes formed the first roots
From which emerged florae graceful and true
She caressed pastel-hued blossoms and newly born leaves,
Marveling at the happiness they imbued.
But she wasn’t nearly finished with generating vitality
And she opened the doors of her heart
Welcoming into her world creatures immense to tiny
And in her sphere, animals and birds became a part.
As tiny buds of peace blossomed into refreshing flowers,
Harmony between her and life seemed perpetual,
Even the worst catastrophes could possibly not tear it apart,
But as humans stepped forth, no longer was that concord infallible.
She trembles as we pluck the petals of peace,
Taint her purity, devastate her once bewitching reality,
Never did such discord ever bring her to wit’s end,
Broken the trust, shattered the harmony.
As we pollute her ether, rivers and meadows
The dominant species having unremembered her worth
Mercilessly annihilating her trees her animals and birds,
She wonders why we so badly want to destroy the Earth.
Her meticulous design, the once complete jigsaw puzzle
Now with no sense of unity, fragments disseminated,
The joy she once felt is diminishing day by day
But just as she begins to give into despair, by hope she is illuminated.
She sees a few, striving to start anew,
Seeking to preserve and protect, reverse the malevolence,
Regretting and redressing centuries of neglect and hurt,
Ashamed of taking advantage of her unending benevolence.
It takes courage and time, but it happens, the severed bond is reinforced,
And a bounteous, everlasting Earth is recreated
Where all creatures coexist peacefully, the puzzle pieces reunite
And the fruit of her eternal love – nature – is celebrated.
